Julien Beneyton was born in 1977 in Echirolles, Isère (France).
In 1995, he studied graphic design at Ecole Estienne in Paris. He received the diploma but decided not to follow this path. He discovered painting and got in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris in 1997. He was a student in Ouanes Amor studio.

Till the beginning, Julien Beneyton's work deals with different aspects of society that he is personally a witness of. Wether it's a hip-hop artist in New York or some fishermen in Mauritania, the starting point for Beneyton is always an encounter he has with a certain person or particular place.
He documents this by taking pictures and uses them as sketches for the eventual painting. In his portraits and street scenes, Beneyton reconstructs the existing composition by adding objects and figures. He intensifies details that serve as clues to the subject's personality, and demand for a closer look to the world around us.

In 2001, he graduated from the « Beaux-Arts » school of Paris with honor granted unanimously by the jury. Then in 2002, he took part in the exhibition « L’art c’est secondaire » organised by Christian Bernard. Two of his paintings entered in the MAMCO collection (Museum of modern and contemporany arts of Geneva, Switzerland).
The same year, he began his collaboration with Alain Le Gaillard and Olivier Robert.
Alain Le Gaillard Gallery presented his work in various international artfairs, collective exhibitions and regular solo shows at the gallery.

After a lot of paintings about Paris and his neighbourhoods, Julien got the feeling he has to see others countries to ressource himself.
So in 2004, he went to Poland for a workshop ; in 2006 he lived few months in New York City (USA).
The year after, he discovered Nouakchott in Mauritania. Travels has become a need, a resource for inspiration.

In 2007, at the Salomon Fondation (France), he participated to the group show « Peinture()s / generation 70 » currated by Phillipe Piguet.

he rapper Dany Dan's portrait was purchased by Fond National d’Art Contemporain (Centre National des Arts Plastiques, France) in 2008.
The same year, he donated a painting which enter in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris's collection.
With Oxmo Puccino, they sponsored a Hip-Hop cycle in the Musical Cultural Center Fleury Goutte d'Or Barbara in Paris.With Olivier Robert Gallery, he shows his work in Contemporany Istanbul Art Fair, le Salon du dessin Contemporain, Show Off...
He's one of the painters selected for the French Painting exhibition at HangArt7 , in Salzburg, Austria.

In 2009, he is one of the contemporany artists selected by Eric Corne to participate in the exhibition "Arte na França, O Realismo" at MASP in Sao Paulo and at MARGS in Porto Alegre (Brazil). He is invited in 2010 at the collective exhbition "Collection 3" at the Fondation Salomon in Annecy (France).
In 2010, he was part of the collective exhibition "La belle peinture est derrière nous" in Istambul (Turkey).

In 2010 and 2011, he is resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam (Netherlands).
Julien Beneyton received help from the sponsors: Van Bijlevelt Stichting, Family Hunting and Institut Français - Maison Descartes (Ambassade de France aux Pays-Bas). His work is presented during the Rijksakademie Open studios.
La Maison des Arts de Malakoff organised his first solo show in an art center in february 2011.
He also presented a serial of 13 portraits of some Rijksakademie's residents at the Institut Français in Amsterdam.

In 2012, he is back in Paris and established himself in a new studio.
